Horse Drives - Fall To The Lot of a Cowhand - For riders who want more of a challenge, we offer Horse Drives in June and October.

Help us drive our herd from winter to summer range. Our most popular adventure, this ride covers over 70 miles of the most spectacular country Arizona has to offer. The land itself- high desert, canyons, mesas, dense forests and mountains are not as hospitable, accessible, or as easy to exploit as other places. The mountains were, are, and will always be rugged, requiring a lot of work on horseback. Step back in time and enjoy four days and nights of horses, cowboys, and the Old West. The drive begins at 5,800 feet, in the high plains of grass and sagebrush. You'll ride to 9,800 feet in the cool forests of the White Mountains. Drive the herd through highland meadows sprinkled with mountain lakes in the shadow of snowcapped Mt. Baldy.

The route threads its way over the mountain and down through the pine forests to our secluded valley and the ranch. In late October we gather all the horses from their different ranges on the mountain and drive them back to lower winter pasture by Lyman Lake and so the Drive is reversed.

These horse drives are offered as pleasure rides rather than endurance rides. However, they are not intended for the beginning rider with limited trail riding experience or poor physical condition. To be prepared for this ride you should have at least thirty hours of riding experience. This ride is generally a little fast paced and riders should be able to do some posting.

Lodging will be in tents on the trail and cabins at the ranch. We will supply your horses, tack, food, tents and cabins. Only a limited number of riders will be allowed, so book early.
