ROUND-UP & CATTLE DRIVE - INDULGE YOUR COWBOY SPIRIT

In the late 1800's, young men eager for a days pay would join on as wranglers to drive cattle herds. They lived on the trail, sleeping and eating with the cattle, hence the name "cowboys". The cattle drives were unique in history because they represented an unsettled west that would soon be filled with homesteaders, barbed wire and towns. The great cattle drives of old are truly a treasured memory of the past. Whether your learning to swing a rope or riding our surefooted well-trained horses, you'll catch a glimpse of authentic western history. Step back in time and experience a unique adventure as each fall we gather our herd of cattle off the mountain pastures and drive them to the shipping corrals.

You could be sitting around the campfire or the dining room table at the end of the day and it's still like it was a hundred years ago. Enjoy the aroma from the bubbling Dutch ovens and the company of old friends and new friends, talking and laughing about the day's work.

The two day round-up includes exceptionally beautiful horseback riding through mountain meadows and rugged pine forests. You can ride for hours without seeing another human being. We gather and drive the days herd to the ranch for late branding and sorting.

The one day drive is about 10 miles but you may have ridden twice that far bringing in the wanderers and strays from the flanks. Riders are welcome to explore the surrounding countryside during the drive. The next morning livestock trucks ship the cows. Our guests are welcome to watch and participate in the loading.
